What You’ll Learn
Bluesflow takes a practical, systematic approach to improvisation. Instead of random licks or disconnected ideas, you’ll develop real, transferable skills through a series of guided “skill trees” covering:
🎼 Theory
Learn to think and speak jazz harmony fluently as it applies to the 12-bar blues.
🎸 Comping
Develop essential comping approaches while strengthening your technique, timing, and musicality.
🎶 Soloing
Build and apply a core set of scales, arpeggios, and lines that outline each transition in a jazz-blues progression. You’ll also learn to map the fretboard more clearly and sharpen your listening skills.
Every skill is applied first to “harmonic blocks” of the blues and then to the full 12-bar form, ensuring you understand not just what to play, but why it works.
How the Course Works
Throughout the course you will:
✔ Follow clear step-by-step practice tasks✔ Record and upload your skills to build a personal portfolio✔ Receive an informal assessment and feedback session in the final week✔ Tailor tasks to your level — more basic when you need support, more advanced when you want a challenge✔ Learn the principles of deliberate practice drawn from pedagogy, psychology, and cognitive science
This course doesn’t just teach you new material — it teaches you how to learn, setting you up for long-term, self-directed progress.
