Newpark Festival

The popular Newpark Festival will be back in February 2025, bigger and better then ever.

Next year's Competition will be live & in person and held at Newpark Academy of Music, Blackrock Co. Dublin.

Registration for the Newpark Festival 2025 will open at the end of 2024.

​

The Newpark Festival is designed for young musicians and singers to compete in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

An annual celebration of young talent, the Newpark Festival welcomes young musicians to perform classical and modern repertoire, and to showcase their unique talents.

TO REGISTER FOR A COMPETITION

  • Entries for the Newpark Festival 2024 will open on Monday the 1st November, 2024.

  • All competition requirements are stated below each competition heading on the festival page, please make sure you read this information clearly.

  • All entries are made online on the Newpark website, through the register button at the top of the Newpark Festival 2024 page.

  • You first need to register for the competition and complete the form.

  • Once the form is completed, it will bring you to a payment page, to complete registration and make a payment for the competition you are entering.

  • You will need to create a new or log in to an existing EPP account to make a payment for your competition.

  • Click the first entry on EPP - 2024 NEWPARK FESTIVAL - ALL COMPETITIONS.

  • Choose your competition from the drop-down list & complete payment.

  • Confirmation of your entry will be sent out following your submission.

  • Competition days & times will be sent out in advance of the competition.

  • The closing date for entries is Saturday 20th January 2024.

RULES AND CONDITIONS

  1. All competitions must be entered online.

  2. Entry fees will not be refunded unless a competition is cancelled.

  3. The closing date for entries is Saturday 20th January 2024.

  4. No entries will be accepted after this date.

  5. Ages shall be reckoned from 1st January 2024. For example, if the competitor turned 10 after the 1st of January 2024, they can still enter under 10 Category. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure their age is entered into the correct age-group. Date of birth and age of competitor will be required on your entry form.

  6. Where competitors are asked to play one piece, this means one short piece or one movement of a work. Each competition will have its own allocated time.

  7. Where there is a large entry for a given class, the competition will be divided into reasonable sizes, each being a separate competition.

  8. Competitions will not be held unless they have two or more entries.

  9. Copies of music to be performed should be provided for the adjudicator before the competition. (Newpark will not be able to print out the music, this must be done in advance).

  10. The adjudicator’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into, under any circumstances.

  11. All competitors must supply their own accompanist as an official accompanist will not be available.

  12. Active mobile phones, watch alarms, videos, cameras or tape recorders are prohibited during competitions.

  13. Any objection for noncompliance with any Regulation(s) must be sent to the Festival Director in writing, within 48 hours of the competition(s) in question. Please include name and contact details.

  14. Any breach in the regulations will render competitors liable to disqualification and forfeiture of any relevant prize awarded to them.

Mary Walsh – Festival Director Bio

​

Mary Walsh is a Dublin-based conductor with an MA in Conducting and a BMus from MTU Cork School of Music. During her studies, she conducted works by Stravinsky, Mozart, and Barber.

​

In 2022, Mary was a finalist in the Dublin Feis Ceol Conducting Competition, conducting the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. She also conducted the National Symphony Orchestra in the National Concert Hall's Female Conductor Programme. In 2021, she participated in the Sorrell Women’s Conducting Programme at the Royal Academy of Music, London.

Mary has worked as an assistant conductor on opera productions with Elaine Kelly and Stephen Barlow. Currently, she conducts the Dublin Welsh Male Voice Choir, Wexford Gateway Orchestra, St. Mary’s College Junior School Choirs, and Newpark Junior Choir. She also sings with New Dublin Voices, directed by Bernie Sherlock.
