Collaborative Pianist Workshop

This workshop explores the essential skills pianists need to become confident and expressive collaborators. Through guided listening, score study, sight reading, and discussion, we’ll analyze how accompanists support soloists and ensembles, learning to recognize key musical cues, balance dynamics, and shape phrasing effectively. Participants will mark up scores while listening to excerpts, identifying when to lead, when to follow, and how to adapt in real-time. Whether you're new to accompaniment or looking to refine your approach, this session will deepen your understanding of the pianist’s role in collaboration. No preparation or playing required—just bring an open mind and a pencil!
